A group of six of us dined (or at least attempted to dine ) at Salam, a North African restaurant on West 13th St., near 6th Avenue. My wife and I had been there before some time ago and had found the food to be satisfactory.
Following a long wait after being seated ,our orders were taken. Some 30 minutes later our appetizers arrived avec still partially-frozen, supermarket- quality pita bread. Some 15 minutes later,we received the pita bread back have been made luke-warm in the microwave.
Another hour then passed and no food, despite numerous entreaties to our waiter, who could be charitably desscribed as surly at best. At that point,we settled up for what we had and left.
All and all,one of the worst dining experiences I have had in a very long time. My wife and I live in the Village and dine out very frequently. The next time we have a jones for arabic cuisine in the area, we will return to Moustache, where the welcome and service is always warm and the food great!
