Sala Thai Restaurant- eastside

Hi! I'm new!
I've been lurking alot and thanks to all of you for some great eatin' recommendations.

I thought I'd share our experience with a fairly new Thai restaurant on the eastside- always on the lookout for good eats out here, which are somewhat limited!

My husband and I checked out Sala Thai (154th and NE 20th in the Trader Joe's strip mall in Redmond) last evening- we really liked it. Very fresh, very tasty with some imaginative dishes like a Shrimp dish sauteed with pistachios and an spicy sauce with a hint of orange. It was great. There were many less common Thai dishes on the menu. Also, the standard Panang Chicken was more tasty than usual. They were really quiet in there last night, but the service was excellent, very attentive without hovering. They also have a nice wine list, which I think is unique for a Thai restaurant. The chef was very nice and came out to say hi and thank us for coming! I think he may have come from another Thai restaurant in Seattle prior to opening Sala Thai. The decor was kind of *upscale* strip mall - soothing subtle green leafy walls, live plants, etc. There is a baby grand piano in the corner where a pianist plays on Friday nights, ( and maybe Saturday?) so we'll definitely be returning on Fridays. The prices are perhaps slightly higher than the norm for Thai, however, with the wide selection of imaginative and really tasty food, I thought it was well worth it. This is our new favorite thai on the eastside. We'll definitely be back to sample some new Thai tastes.
