Sabur review

Went to Sabur [Holland Ave in Somerville] for dinner on Saturday before a show at the Somerville theater. Love that place...had been a few years ago and now I'm wondering why it took us so long to go back! Easy to park on the street or in their lot, which is great. We looked at the menu and decided to order 5 appetizers between the two of us instead of getting apps and entrees, because they looked more appealing for some reason; 3 to share and then one not to share for each of us. I had the "Confit of Duck with Caramelized Onions, Apples & Sauerkraut" [sauerkraut on the side b/c I wasn't sure if I'd like it, which I did...warm and yummy]. The duck was fabulous and had a great sauce, probably balsamic based, with onions and maybe shallots and the apples....perfect winter dish. My DC had the "Grilled Trout Filet in Vine Leaves with Eggplant and Cucumber Yogurt", which she liked. Then we split the "Grilled Shrimp Wrapped in Vine Leaves with Spicy Saffron Rouille" [yum], the "Pears, Walnuts, & Gorgonzola with Mixed Greens & Port Wine Dressing" [we asked for and got goat cheese instead of gorgonzola, also yummy and very big], and "Warm Goat Cheese with Roasted Eggplant and Pepper Dip", served with little toasts...fabulous. We also had warm rolls to start, with a light olive oil, salt and pepper dip. All that, plus one glass of wine and 2 cups of tea, came to $58.75 before tip. A total bargain! I highly recommend Sabur. Especially this time of of year, because it has a very warm and welcoming feel to it in this cold weather.
