The Rushton--a report--longish

I went last night with the girls. The meal was pleasant. We order 2 appetizers to share (three of us), grilled calamari and the small composed salad with a carmelized pear that was delicious. The calamari was a little chewy, but tasty. Then we all had the steak frites for our mains--the steak is described as Alberta Flat Iron. I asked the waiter if that was hanger steak and he said yes--well maybe. but it seemed a little thick to me. It was also chewy as I expected and and topped with lovely sliced and crispy onions. The frites were good. I had a glass of very nice Shiraz and one friend had a glass of Pinot Noire. We skipped dessert and had coffees. The bill for everything with tax and tip for 3 people (2 glasses of wine) was $113.00.

My main complaint about this place is that it is very noisy. Why play loud music, which forces people to speak loudly to be heard over it? For this reason, I might not return. I like to have conversation with my dinner and I could not hear my friend on the other side of the table.
