We had dinner at Rue Saint Jacque Friday night. A fun little place, very much a neighborhood restaurant. This was our second visit and it was every bit as good as the first.
The firisee salad with lardons and poached egg was outstanding, one of the best I've had. My entree was cassolet. I had read an early post about this that said it was dry. Not so Friday. The beans were creamy yet were not mushy. Lots of sausage, lamb, large pieces of bacon and, of course, duck confit. Unique presentation. Two bricks were place on the table and then the cast iron skillet on cassolet was placed on top of them, a serve yourself presentation. The wife had the rabbit servced on mashed potatoes, none left.
The only downer for the night was dessert. Had an order of chocolate mousse. Was far too dense, almost cakelike. Very chocolatey, but certainly no "mousee-like."
Still, 4 glasses of wine, 2 appetizers, 2 entress and dessert, $120 with a 20% tip. Service was excellent.
Like I said, second visit and there will for sure be another.
