I had lunch with a friend in RUB today and was shocked when the waiter said they were "out of a few things on the menu." These "few things" turned out to be pulled pork, bbq chicken, pulled chicken, St. Louis ribs and the portobello mushroom (okay, I wasn't so concerned about the fact that someone must have ordered the last mushroom). He said they had a lot of catering orders.
I may be naive to the inner workings of the restaurant world, but how does a bbq joint run out of ribs due to "catering orders?" More importantly, how do they run out of so many dishes simultaneously. Even if someone called that day and ordered all of the food in the house, wouldn't they say no so that they could continue to serve?
I also noticed that the beans had way more meat in them than usual, which made me think they might be running out of beans as well.
I really like RUB and I'll continue to go back, but today was rather odd? Has anyone had similar experiences?
