Had a dinner at Mezza 9 in the Rossyln Hyatt tonight and wanted to report. For a hotel restaurant, not bad. I loved how first you get this crazy martini-shaped basked full of yummy bread, plus olives and oil and other stuff. Mmmmm. Then we had the hummus, which was good and very garlicky. I went on to have two tapas-dishes: the lentil-chickpea salad and the house salad (greens, balsamic, strawberries, dates, gorgonzola) and while I am not a fan of the stinky cheeses, I just left it alone and very much enjoyed the rest of the salad! The lentil thing was excellent as well. I'm going to have to look up recipes now and see if I can recreae something similar. One of my colleagues had the squash soup and really liked it. The other had the calamari and was not too impressed. Then, after the meal, we were brought a little plate with little bits of chocolate, white chocolate curls, and little anise (?) cookies. Quite delightful and such a refreshing contrast to the gargantuan serving sizes usually seen in restaurants. I'm looking forward to checking it out again when the new job in Rosslyn starts.
