Romantic Special Occasion - without pomp/stuffiness, with character/charm

My boyfriend and I have postponed the bulk of our Valentine's Day festivities to Saturday, when we plan to have a nice, romantic dinner. He is making the arrangements, but I'm not sure where to suggest because I definetly want it to be someplace I (we) haven't been before.

We're looking for someplace romantic and cozy, but that doesnt have that communal-style seating where you're rubbing elbows with strangers. We'd like to stay away from stuffy and pick a place with character.

Also, my b/f is on Atkins and loves "exotic" meats - like from unlikely animals (this is a bonus point, not a req.). Another bonus for places with large appetizer platters with meats and cheeses. We also like restaurants with a theme, or just something different/exotic about the experience. We're very sensitive to ambiance, so a well-decorated, cozy one is key.

I checked out Little Giant based on what I've read on the boards, and it looks like a good one. Any other ideas for a nice romantic dinner for a couple of 20somethings (together 3 yrs)?

We love all cuisines. Neighborhood/price no bar.
Thanks so much :)
