Okay, so we were REALLY eager and excited to try In Good Company while in the mid-coast region this week. Really eager.
We walked in the door at about 8:15 p.m. tonight (a Tuesday). The restaurant was about 1/2 full. It looked promising: cozy atmosphere, good menu, etc. We were seated right away (being the only ones new and standing in the middle of the room) and shockingly were given water. But then we waited and waited and waited... About 15 minutes later I was able to flag down the guy (who apparently cannot do louder than a whisper) who seated us.
We had been ready to order for quite a while and we thought that was obvious because we had stacked our menus and were looking around for someone to acknowledge that. So once I flagged the guy down, I asked him what the soup of the day was. He replied, "I don't know - I'm just the busboy." That actually surprised us as he was the only one tending to and talking with any tables in the entire room.
So then I said, "Well, do you think you could get someone to help us?" He replied, "Oh, yeah, sorry for the long wait" and then proceeded to NOT go get anyone.
We waited for five more minutes and got up to leave. We were flabbergasted to say the least. So much for a promising meal....
Luckily we ended up at Suzuki right next door (another on my list that I was afraid we weren't going to get to). It was wonderful and the service was attentive to boot.
I trust that everyone who is on this board and recommended IGC had a great experience. We, however, were not among you.
Tomorrow night is back in Camden at Francine Bistro. I hope and pray it will live up to expectations!
