Who says there isn't good food in Moorpark?
Ate last night at Roberto's which is in a converted house. There are tables inside and out to eat at. You order at a counter and the food is brought to you.
The food was fresh, tasty, and inexpensive. For a little over $12 we had chicken taquitos, 3 steak tacos al carbon, chips & salsa and a side of beans.
The taquitos were great, not greasy, the chicken inside was moist, not dried out and stringy. There was chicken from beginning to end, not just in the middle like I have encountered at other places.
The tacos were loaded with alot of good quality beef, not fatty, and had lettuce and pico de gallo. The tortillas around them were nice and fresh.
The chips were not greasy as well, and had no after taste from the oil (some places I have found the fried foods taste off, getting other flavors from the oil it is fried in. They came with a garlicky tomato salsa which was excellent, and when they were dropped off, we were told to help ourselves to other salsas on their salsa bar (we didn't take advantage of it, but they looked good.
The refried beans were good, more on the moist, soupier side then the really dried out beans and had a generous sprinkling of cheese on top.
Other people had a steak quesadilla which filled an entire platter, and the enchiladas which they said were tasty, but I didn't get to try them.
I will definitely return when I am in the area.
