Reviews of Restaurants on our San Diego Trip

Thanks to everyone’s recommendations we had wonderful meals during our San Diego vacation this month. We spent some time near the Gas Lamp District, Temecula, Pacific Beach, La Jolla and Del Mar. I wanted to share some of my experiences. The restaurants are not listed in any particular order, just in the way I remember them!

Leroy’s Kitchen –- Very fresh and loved the bacon bloody mary. Large portions for the cost.

Pacific Beach
Lana Thai – good quality
Sushi Ota – Still my favorite sushi place. We ate nothing from the menu and had our sushi chef make what he wanted. Wonderful
Costa Brava – The tapas were great and service was excellent
Narraya Thai – Had a couple of their new fish dishes, garlic and eggplant

Salvatore’s Cucina – Excellent service and they made a special seafood dish for me since I am gluten free. Good for a client meal.

Earth Bistro – What a great find. The gluten free pizza was perfect after a long day of wine tasting

De Mar Area
Burger Lounge – Excellent gluten free buns and grass fed beef burgers. Very popular.
Kaito Sushi – (Encinitas) – The only place that was disappointing. The fish was fresh and good quality but it just didn’t live up to what I was expecting
Del Mar Rendezvous – Great little Chinese spot, shrimp and scallop stir fry was wonderful
Pacifica Del Mar –The Japanese clam chowder was amazing
Jakes Del Mar – The layered seafood cocktail, sweet potatoes tater tots and roasted Brussels sprouts were yummy. Beautiful view.

La Jolla
Nine Ten – Good, but not over the top. Sea Scallops were a bit bland and the trumpet mushroom dish was ok. I liked the fruit salad with bacon. Service was great but expected more since I heard so much about it.
Georges at the Cove, California Modern – By far one of the best restaurants we visited. The corn pudding with Dungeness crab is something I won’t soon forget. The fish tacos and mushroom risotto were also delicious. Beautiful setting overlooking the ocean and the service was excellent.
