review of Sunshine Thai

Awhile back, I posted a question about where I could find good Thai papaya salad and had several recommendations, including Sunshine Thai (which was also mentioned in the LA Times recently).
Anyway, I checked out Sunshine Thai (on Sherman Way in North Hollywood), in search of the papaya salad. Unfortunately, it wasn't as tasty as I hoped for.... the actualy seasoning was very delicious (with generous amounts of chopped peanuts and dried shrimp) but the papaya itself wasn't as crunchy as I had hoped for.
I recommend the Larb (ground chicken with slivers of purple onions, fresh mint leaves, basil; wrap it with redleaf lettuce). I think it was under the appetizer section of the menu.
The display of food was very good, with aesthetic touches of carefully arranged vegetables on the side of each dish (including an amazing carving of a radish that was transformed into a lotus flower) and the waitresses were very friendly and helpful with the menu.
Though I didn't find the ultimate papaya salad (I'm going to have to try those other recommendations), I wholeheartedly recommend this Thai restaurant. The price is reasonable and the cooking is authentic.
