Went to Q, 112 N. Main Street in Port Chester, last night. Peculiar setup they have there. It's sort of a combination cafeteria/table service deal. You order up front at the register and prepay. Then the counter guy gives you a tall place-card holder with a number on it. You bring it to your table and then they bring the food & drinks to you. (We didn't tip at the counter or the table.) Service was uniformly courteous and attentive, btw.
I am also pleased that they chose not to decorate the place in stereotypical Northern BBQ place style (old license plates, wood paneling, etc.). It's kind of retro-industrial, if that makes any sense. Very airy and, of course, casual.
Now, on to the food! I had the pulled pork plate and coleslaw and collard sides. I thought the pork was good, and a quite generous portion for little me, but I think Holy Smoke in Mahopac is better. The flavor of the Q pork was more monochromatic, so to speak, and more peppery than the pork at HS. The sides were excellent, though the collards were a bit salty (probably due to their being cooked with bacon).
DH had a full rack of ribs, baked beans, and "cheesy corn." We shared; he liked the pulled pork better than the ribs, but I thought the ribs were fine, if a wee bit dry. (Bottled sauce is always on the table). The baked beans were very tasty, not oversweet, and the corn was ok but I don't see the need for cheese.
Bottom line: We'll certainly go back. Side note: If you're going south on Main St., don't park in the first spot on the right after the bus stop on the Q block. It's apparently a handicapped spot, and we got ticketed. I'm contesting. It's not clearly marked at all.
