This week the HSG is celebrating their 25th anniversary and the menu has some of the items from their original menu, but unfortunately not at the original prices. Regulars get a free glass of Gloria Ferrer Champagne though. One of the items from the original menu that we tried was Composed Saladlate with a Crepinette ( a homemade sausage patty). It consisted of a golden beet salad, a green salad with asparagus, a celery root salad and of course the spicy crepinette.
The prices from the 1979 menu were really interesting. The entrees ranged from $3.75 for a hamburger with fries to $8.50 for salmon. The majority of the entrees were between $5.75 and $6.75.
Salads ranged from $1.25 to $4.75 and soup was $1.00 a cup or $1.75 a bowl. Desserts ranged from $1.25 to $2.00.
How times have changed!
