When all is said and done, this is probably the best measure of what one truly likes in a restaurant. We live in the Downtown area and many on the list are within walking distance.. Visits have been over many years, and all places have been tried most recently within the past few months.

Jsix (Farm to table slow food downtown)

Neighborhood (Downtown's best beer selection and good, inventive fare to boot)

Cowboy Star ("Go to" place when I want a steak; great little butcher shop too)

Tapenade (La Jolla; closest thing I can think of to dining in France)

Red Tracton's (Across from track in Del Mar; love the retro steakhouse vibe)

Pizzeria Bruno Napoletano (Ok, only been 3 or 4 times but it'll soon be 5)

Basic Pizza (Downtown - wonderful pizza and salad; lots of fun)
