New Restaurants in Burlington, VT (long)

O is a restaurant owned by the people who run The Starry Night Cafe in Ferrisberg. It will be open soon on the waterfront and if the rumors are correct it will be the real deal. I'm hoping to score an invite to the VIP pre-opening dinners this weekend.

The Single Pebble, Vermont's best Chinese restaurant will be opening their second location in Burlington within the next month or so. This is very exciting for those of us who've had to travel all the way to Barre for authentic Chinese.

If you want a very good Chinese take-out you must try China Express on Shelburne road. It looks like your run of the mill take-out joint (it is in the former KFC space) but it truly is an excellent restaurant. They make their dumplings from scratch. Nuff said. Try the Ginger Chicken and the Dumplings with Sechuan Peanut sauce.

The new Brazilian Restaurant on Main Street was slated to open this month and I am not sure if it is open or not. I'm excited to try it out.

If you haven't been to The India House recently you should go. They have a new chef and he makes much more authentic Indian food than his predecessor. The brunch buffet is an outrageous value for the money.

It looks like someone has rented the old Carbur's space and is working on it right now. It might be the Single Pebble people. But I was pretty sure they were moving into the Saigon Cafe space.

There is work going on in the old Noonie Deli space above What Ales You on St. Paul street. We will have to wait and see what's going in there.

I've heard that someone has rented the Last Elm cafe space and has opened a restaurant there. I don't know much more than that.

On less positive note. The food at the new City Market (as opposed to the old City Market) is not very good. The salad bar is really disgusting and the rest of the deli food is truly unremarkable (not to mention that they have Halogen bulbs blasting down on the prepared food and cheese, yuck). Go to Stone Soup instead. They are open later now and the food is still really good. A little overpriced but still the best place for soup and salad in Burlington.

That's all for now, hounds

Tim
