I happened to walk by this restaurant over the weekend and decided to give it a try. Rumi is run by two brothers who make homemade food the covers the many cultures of the spice trade. This place is like eating in my grandmothers living room - warm and cozy, generouse portions and items such as home made spaetzle, savoury stews, a variety of mezzes including labneh with zatar, stuffed eggplant, 10 gourmet teas (try the Jasmine pearls) and the best middle eastern pastries you can find. These two characters are on the floor smoozing with guests and surprising them with little extras...even the wine list is eclectic...try Uruguay and Tunisia. Rumi is at the corner of Hutchison and fairmont.
