it was jason's night off, but it's his menu and we still had some very good food.
apps:jason's famous tuna poke- super duper- VERY generous portion of raw tuna in a sesame/soy type dressing, mixed with hijiki, sesame seeds etc.//
romaine salad with so. amer. anchovies,potato puffs, shaved cheese and buttermilk ranch dressing. striking presentation, nice combo of robust flavors, each standing out. short rib with soy type glaze- husband loved.
entrees: grilled garlic lemon chicken with artichokes, black trumpet mushrooms and very unusual sauce of pureed vegetables and mushrooms. husband loved. i thought sauce was fascinating and super but the BURNED parts of the chicken ruined its flavor for me.// grilled ribeye w/ tater tots filled with foie gras, with tomato aioli/gribiche type sauce. didn't really care for the flavor of the beef and very disapp. that couldn't taste the foie gras in the tots(such a great idea, i had thought.) enjoyed our greg norman shiraz. best irish coffee i've ever had (? go figure).exc. attentive,thoughtful and friendly service. as always, a very attractive, comfortable and conversation-friendly room. we have been fans of jason from his tremont 647 and kestrel days; glad to have him back.
