Thanks to Nancy Hudson for this rec. We had breakfast there this morning (breakfast is served only on Saturday and Sunday) and it's one of the best breakfasts we've ever had. We shared chicken-fried steak with gravy, eggs, potatoes and toast. The CFS was big and thick and the batter was perfect. The gravy was amazing. It had huge pieces of sausage in it and was the perfect consistency. Eggs cooked just right and the potatoes were large chunks that had been fried up with some kind of "red" seasoning (I was too busy eating it all to really pay attention to something that should have been noteworthy.) Toast is choice of sourdough or rye; got rye and it actually came out properly brown. All of this for $9. Everything is made from scratch and it shows. They've been around since 1956 and the cook and servers are all old Reno-ites. They make their own corned beef hash which looked terrific and we'll try it next time. Can't wait to try lunch too. Please stop in; it's so, so good. It's at 706 West Second Street at the corner of Washington.
Edit: I neglected to add that the atmosphere is that of a bar. You can sit at the bar where there are video poker machines or you can sit at tables that are at barstool height. There was also a picnic table in the front that is partially screened from the street.
