Is Remoulade any good? What are alternatives?

An out-of-towner here...

I was reading about different restaurants and came across (Arnaud's) Remoulade. It looks like it has a nice variety of New Orleans and La. food -- e.g., an oyster bar, beans and rice, jambalaya, etoufee, po'boys, BBQ shrimp, maybe a redfish meuniere, &c. But the cartoon characters on the menu gives me pause!

It raised a question in my mind as to what are the best casual / midrange places that run the gamut (or most of it) of traditional N.O. / La. items. Not just po'boys, but the widest possible variety of all the stuff that Yankees like me think of when we think of New Orleans. (See list above.)

Ideally I'm talking about the kind of place that you could happily go three days in a row and order different things. Let's say $25 or so for food, two beers, tax, and tip. Any part of New Orleans proper.

thanks, fellow Hounds.
