We here at Chowhound, being optimists by nature, are hoping our friends in New Orleans make a rapid and miraculous recovery from this awful catastrophe (not that it will be anywhere near "easy").
Just as we don't want to give up hope for such a recovery, we don't want to give up hope for this board, and sacrifice its chowy focus by filling up with discussions of the general state of affairs in New Orleans. Let's keep this board chowy - focused and ready for providing locals, displaced locals and potential visitors with information on the current chow scene.
For this reason, we ask that you please post comments about the general state of things in New Orleans on our Not About Food board, where it's OK for discussions to be more free ranging and off the topic of food. If you do start a thread on the Not About Food board, please feel free to post a "heads up" thread here on this board, pointing people towards the thread you've started on the Not About Food board.
We know how much people want to discuss the infrastructure and future of New Orleans, and this information is of much interest both to locals and visitors alike. We're not trying to stop the discussions, just to direct them towards the proper board so that this board can remain a useful and focused source for chow info. Thanks for helping our efforts. Please head to the Site Talk board for discussion of this or any other site policy.
