this is in response to a posting about kabul kabob further down the page. i've been to kabul kabob once, and having never had afghan food before, i didn't have much to compare with, but the night we visited (december 2001) the place had only afghanis.
we tried the lamb and chicken kabob platter which was pretty good (strewn with sumac) and came with rice, pumpkin stew, some kind of green (parsley?) sauce, and garden salad as well as yummy just made afghan bread.
my neighbour says she had their lamb stew which was good.
also interesting is the kabul market next door, where you can buy afghan bread and various other goodies.
