Gourmet Mag editor Ruth Reichl has signed a deal write a book about her days as the restaurant critic for the New York Times. They're looking at a spring 2005 release date. Reichl says the book will largely be about the disguises she wore to eateries, plus dirt on the NY Times.

I'm not big on the cult of Ruth, personally. I definitely respect her. But she wrote two volumes of her memoirs and only got to around age 35???? Is anyone's life this interesting??? And I like Bon Appetit and Cooks Illustrated better than Gourmet...
