A refreshing addition to the usual Asian Fusion cuisine in Williamsburg

Just hit a little place called Chai on N.6th and Berry in Williamsburg and was simply amazed. The decor is cozy and comfortable which is a welcome change from the noisy warehouse feel of places like Sea in the area. It’s also a welcome change from the dingy dives that have inhabited that corner for so long.

But most importantly, the food could not have been better and I would caution anyone who would dismiss this as just another Thai restaurant as they have Vietnamese, Japanese, Malay, and Indonesian plates as well. The Japanese style fried chicken appetizer is sublime as are their home style peanut dumplings and the Sautéed Vegetarian Duck I had for an entree could not have surprised me more, (I only had this on the suggestion of the waitress) and as a hard core meat eater, I have found a new respect for vegetarian cuisine.

All in all I was very pleased and cannot wait to go back again to try more.
