I will be going to Boston with some friends for a week or so in October. They have limited resources, so we will be looking for a lot of "Chowhound"-type places, not "foodie"-type places. In other words, really great food without a huge price tag and not the "trendy"-type restaurants.
We will be staying right near Fanueil Hall, so anything downtown or in the North End is preferable. We will also spend a day down around Plymouth and the Cape, and probably a day up toward Salem, Lexington/Concord, and maybe even as far up as Vermont.
We have already decided on Plaza III and Legal Seafoods as our "splurge" restaurants, because I loved Plaza III in Kansas City, and have had great lobster in the past at Legal Seafoods. But they are not real big seafood lovers, so our seafood availability is limited. I do know that they love Italian, so a couple of good Italian restaurants are in order.
We will be all over town, so recommendations in other areas of Boston are also welcome.
Thanks in advance for any help.
