As we grow increasingly closer to summer (despite what the weather tells us), this transplanted southern girl (okay, redneck is fairly accurate too...even though I have a Masters, its hard to get rid of it..) grows increasingly in need of barbecue. Chicken, pulled pork, ribs, etc. Preferences: real pit cooked dry rub plus wet mop technique (either north or south carolina style will do and I'll take Texas style if its all I can get) with tomato based sauce served on the side, instead of glopped all over it.
I'm starting to feel my BBQ reserve level in my blood lowering to dangerous levels.
I'm in Lakeview, but will go darn near anywhere my car or public transport will take me.
Oh, and sides are not the bastard child of barbecue, and should be appropriately fried, creamy, and all around death-inducing. Fries, slaw, okra, greens,grits,biscuits,cornbread, whatever.
