Raves for Ravenous

Ravenous, a wonderfully warm and casual restaurant just off the square in Downtown Healdsburg, is situated in a single story house with walls painted a glowing Halloween orange. The welcome to our party of five (including an infant) was warm and we were seated smack dab in the middle of things in an oversized communal style table.

The service staff were attentive and responsive. The food, in a word, was magnificent...perfectly realized and executed.

I had cabbage rolls in broth as my starter and it was grand. Two snugly wrapped ground beef cigars cradled in translucent cabbage leaves cooked just long enough to be soft but not mushy. The broth insinuated its homemade salubrious flavor into the meat stuffing
making each bite exceptionally intense. My main was thinly sliced flank steak with mashed potatoes, grilled carrots and onion that was sweetly flavored, moist and comforting.

I also had bites of the smoked salmon appetizer. The salmon was draped over little corn cakes and dressed with creme fraiche and caviar. It was accompanied by a small mound of oraganic greens. The salmon with greaseless and satinly smooth.

The Caeser salad was very spritely falvored with lemon and garlic and supported large swaths of parmesan chiselled off the mother wheel.

Everyone enjoyed their meal with gusto and great enthusiasm. No hesitations here--Ravenous is aptly named and highly recommended.
