Rain Restaurant, Toronto - a supreme joke on the social elite?

I've been to Rain restaurant once and had another incident relayed to me by a very trustworthy source. I am covinced that the owners of Rain are setting up the restaurant as a total joke on the "cool" people who frequent the place. I've heard reservations are difficult to come by and it is the new "in" place in town. Well, let me tell you a few things about Rain. First, regardless of what you order, they INSIST that everyone share the dishes, because that is "how we do it at Rain". Second, the dishes are brought out in a completely random sequence, based on "whatever the chef feels like sending". Two main courses, followed by an appetizer, then another main course, then two appetizers, etc.. (By the way, these quotes are actually what the waiter said.) Third, they seem to name their dishes based solely on what sounds good. For example, their "kim chee" is actually just julienned carrots (not cabbage, not spicy, not pickled!). Fourth, if you order more than one bottle of wine, you don't even get to choose which you will drink first -- they simply open the bottle they were able to find first! I am not kidding.

The actual food is not all that bad, but certainly not worth the price. However, the place is worth going to once, just for a laugh. It is hard to keep a straight face when your waiter orders you to share the food and dictates in what order you eat the dishes and drink the wine. A final layer of absurdity is added when you actually agree to pay for it all..!
