Pusan Village Market - Oakland

With all the interest in 99 Ranch on the board
I thought I would share my trip to Pusan Village
Market on Telegraph in Oakland.

Its about 1/2 the size of a 99 Ranch and the
emphasis is on Korean food. There is a large
open area where you can buy all the wonderful
Korean condiments like kimchi and radish pickles
in bulk along with more exotic items and marinated meats.

They have live seafood (the first time I have ever
seen live abalone in a tank)and sushi quality fish.
They have some pretty exotic fresh meats and
the thinly sliced cuts for hot pot. Much of what
they have is at 99 Ranch, but there is a lot of
unique stuff as well, most of which I couldn't
decipher. There is also cheap kitchenware
on sale. I saw a portable gas cooktop in a molded
plastic case for 9.99 and the lady in front of me
bought a 24 pack of gas canisters which were a couple
of bucks each. There are huge bags of dried chile
in various forms and the condiment aisle is a
cornucopia.

This store is worth checking out, its clean and well
run, the staff speaks english. I think 9 times
out of ten it can save a trip to Fremont or Richmond
and if you are a lover of Korean sides, you can't get
those at 99 Ranch.
