Just wanted to mention how consistently wonderful my dining experiences are at this La Jolla spot (its at Fay and Kline) This was the first place I went in San Diego 2 years ago when I moved here and it is very very good for brunch. Unpretentious. (Jane and Michael Stern featured it as a "road food" hotspot in Gourmet Mag) If you're looking for a new brunch spot, check it out.

Oatmeal with carmelized walnuts
Any of the omelets
Wait staff is probably the friendliest in SD and usually not a huge wait (esp saturday mornings)
Only thing I have ever not been happy with is the coffee-- sometimes tastes a little stale. But worth the risk, IMHO. Just thought I'd share!
