Preliminary Plans - October

My boyfriend and I are lucky enough to be visiting New Orleans in mid-October for eight days. He’ll be covering a convention for some of the time, during which I’ll be on my own. (I am thinking that I will take a couple of day-trips to Acadia). The second half of the week we’ll have together. My brother is likely to be coming down to help me celebrate my birthday at the very beginning of the trip. So it’s going to be quite varied.

(During our last trip we ate at Peristyle (wonderful!), K-Paul (Probably the best all-over meal of the trip complete with the coconut cake!), Brigstens (went because of the glowing recs from this board – we both felt it had its strengths and weaknesses, weren’t bowled over), Jazz Brunch at Commanders (disappointing food but fun) and Mother’s (Can’t wait to go back!)

Here are some preliminary ideas: Please feel free to suggest additions or changes!

Dinners:

Emeril’s (His friend wants to go there and has an “in” – don’t know if I would have chosen it otherwise)
Upperline
Dick and Jenny
Marisol
Stella! (This menu looked very creative and bold --- really appealed to me.)
Also considering Herbsaint if my brother comes to town, as he does not like heavy food.

Lunch:
Galatoire (I’m thinking Friday lunch – but would Sunday dinner be better?)
Antoine (Is this too similar to Galatoire’s? Which would you choose?)
Bon Ton (We will be staying in the CBD near the convention center, so I thought this would work)
Uglesich (Can’t wait to try it! Hope they will be open)
Coop’s (An old favorite of my boyfriend’s)

Breakfast:
Elizabeth (Praline bacon sounds amazing)
Mother’s (Will be just around the block)
Café Du Monde
Others?

Other thoughts: Sid-Mar’s (Definitely want to experience some real unvarnished seafood places), Gabrielle, Big Shirley’s…
