Katr - Vězeňská 9, Prague 1
On a recent visit to Prague we stumbled upon a new restaurant we hadn't seen before in the Josefov district. The menu was meat heavy and features a "grill" section where you can select cuts, by the 100g, for grilling. I found their price for lamb to be quite high and a bit unreasonable but that's not uncommon here in the Czesky Republiky. I did have a ribeye from Uruguay, with baked potato (this was a substitution), my SO had the duck and MIL sea bass. Everyone was very happy with dinner, the steak was surprisingly good given the distance it had travelled around the world and cooked to a perfect medium rare.
Another nice thing was the selection of Burčák that was listed by the grape varietal and I'm assuming filtered. We have a lot of Burčák here in Southern Moravia (obviously as so much of it is produced here) but I've never seen it sold by grape varietal. It's also never filtered here, as far as I've found, so the overall taste was cleaner and a touch less yeasty which was very good. We tried the Muscat burčák and were really happy to find you could get a lot of the "muscaty" floral notes even at that early a point in the fermentation.
Katr's a very convenient and good quality place for a quick meal in the Joseofov district.
