Hi all. My fiance and I are getting married in Portsmouth this June. Our families are entirely from out-of-state (mostly NY, some PA, VA, FL) so we want to show them the real New Hampshire experience. We are having our rehearsal dinner at the 100 Club, ceremony at Strawbery Banke, and reception at One Harbor Place. But we're having a hard time finding a place to bring everyone for Sunday brunch.
Our first thought was the Friendly Toast, since it's one of our favorites and one of the larger restaurants in downtown. Unfortunately, they wouldn't be able to host a party of 50-60 until 1pm, which I am OK with (I'm surprised they're willing to fit us in at all) but people are telling me is unreasonably late since people will have to catch flights home after.
The next thought was renting a hall at Wentworth by the Sea. This would be completely out of character for the wedding, but my mother loves it and I think our guests would enjoy the beautiful views. However, since everything else will be in downtown, we will have to figure out how to transport 50+ people to Newcastle and back, which makes this a very expensive option.
Basically, I'm just trying to brainstorm restaurants (hopefully downtown) large enough to fit our party, that serve brunch, but would be willing to take such a large reservation. I'm kind of at a loss since our other brunch faves (Colby's, Popovers) couldn't fit nearly this many people.
The last option would be having brunch at one of the hotel banquet halls (Sheraton or Hilton Garden) and having it catered. I personally think this is pretty tacky, but if it's all that's available we might just have to go with it.
Can anyone help us out?? Thanks so much, have a great day!
