I thought that contributors to this board would find these particular websites to be quite helpful as well as interesting.
www.westcoastwine.net One of the best websites
featuring several message boards and knowledgeable contributors.
www.wine-searcher.com The best source I know of to place a value on a particular bottle or locate a more difficult one to find. For many who can have wine delivered to their home this is a superb source for BUYING wine since it enables them to price a particular bottle and buy it at the lowest price listed. (Note: when reviewing the listed prices note the significant discrepancy between the American price and that which a wine is available for in its native country. For those reading this there ARE wine shops overseas that will ship directly to you in America at the price listed plus the cost of shipping. Sometimes there may be a duty on the wine but the amount is almost incidental. Shipping can be very expensive or time consuming. For example wineries in Italy ship their wine to America by boat, the least expensive way. Unfortunately this ONLY applies to states that allow this and Virginia and Maryland are two that do not. They also do NOT allow wine to be shipped in from other states. D. C. does however but it gets sticky because if the wine comes through Dulles it often gets held up there. But if you happen to know someone in West Virginia who can take delivery for you, well you should toast your good luck.)
www.wineadvocate.com This is Robert Parker's website and it requires a subscription. He is generally acknowledged as the single most influential and knowledgeable of all the wine critics.
www.winespectator.com The most popular and best all around website of all. Like West Coast Wine above the message boards are among the best.
