Pollo chon update - Papa's

We grabbed some carryout this evening from Papa's on Division in Humbolt Park. It's a clean, well lighted place.... (my apologies to Papa Hemingway) at about 2500 W. Division whcih I beleive has been mentioed previously on this board.

Pollo Chon (rotiserie chicken) is the specialty of the house along with a couple variations on pork chops and Lechon Asada on Saturday and Sunday only.

We ordered a 1/2 bird and with no Lechon Asada available a fried pork chop dinner both $7.99

The bird was moist and succulent with a good garlicky spice rub, it was ordered with white rice & beans stewed in sofrito (tasty little beans they were!), a bit of salad and grilled garlic bread. The pork was a little dry and salty, but also had the high octane garlic treatment, this was served with yellow rice and pigeon peas. Other side dish options were papas fritas, yucca, tostones and fried plantain.

The management and staff are extremely nice folks.

Great chow and a great value (less than $18 dinner for two) so we'll be back soon to enjoy the full dining room experience.
