Polka Dot Bakery vs. Magnolia

Sad to say, the Polka Dot Bakery just doesn't hold up. Nice people; cute spot; gorgeous little cakes; and you can actually get seats. But in three visits, I just haven't had anything that blows me away the way practically *anything* at the Magnolia does, just 4-5 blocks away. Blackout cake: a little dry, not very intensely chocolaty. Lemon cake: only OK tasting. Pumpkin pie: probably the best of what I tasted, but then I'm not crazy about pumpkin pie... At Magnolia, I'm craving pretty much any cake they sell and most of all the apple crisp...

I've only been to Mary's Off Jane once (in the morning. Got a muffin.) So I'm hopeful of one great bakery that has available seats!!
