Poetry in Meat

I was at the French Market on Clinton St. for lunch. They've had some vendor turnover, but it's a good venue for pretty good crepes, banh mi, Belgian pommes frittes, French patisserie, etc... The sausage/salumi/charcouterie stand called Fumare has always had solidly good meat products. I had never had their home made Montreal smoked meat. It was utter perfection: more heavily peppered than usual Montreal smoked meat making it closer to pastrami, but with a sweet smoke flavor like Texas beef barbecue. Whatever it's called, I call it delicious. I wish the very nice couple who runs the place the best, and recommend this Jewish deli style meat as one of the best things I've ever eaten.
