Last time we were in NYC from CA, it was two and half years ago and we dined at Le Bernardin, Keste and Maialino for lunch. Locanda Verde, Breslin and Minetta Tavern for brunch. Modern and Scarpetta for dinner.
I guess the Universe does not want us to dine at EMP, because they were renovating the restaurant, last time we were in NYC and my first option for lunch this time would have been there. I was surprised to see they have changed their dining format and now there is only one menu and too costly for this trip. We rather eat big meals at lunch and lighter meals at night and prefer creative, clean food over traditional or rich food. We prefer Italian, French, Greek and creative Asian. I don’t eat birds with the exception of a little Foie Gras.We are staying at the Andaz Wall St in may( wed- mon) and I need your help with the followings:
We might go to LV again since last time we really enjoyed the Uovo Modenese and wood Fired Uovo Al Forno. I have searched and searched for days to find a new creative brunch spot and so far I have only come up with Public, Acme and Marrow. I looked at NoMad, Fat Radish, Good, North end grill, Crown, ABC Kitchen, Edie and the Wolf and Lincoln.
We have three lunches to fill. I might consider the Per Se Salon menu depending on what is offered that day. Also might consider Le Bernardine’s city harvest menu.
For Italian I have come up with Lincoln, Ai Fiori, Il Buco Alimentari. We have been to Babbo and not interested in Del Posto. if you had to pick one which one?
For creative French I haven’t come up with anything. Most new restaurants are more classic French.
For Greek the new ones are on the pricy side and Loi is only for dinner. Any ideas?
Creative other cuisine – Since NoMad offers the same menu for L and D would you choose lunch or dinner?
Momo ssäm since I don’t eat birds L or D?
Alder for sure, the menu looks great
Peral & Ash (Maybe)
Kin shop (Maybe)
NoMad if we don’t go for lunch
I have Dominique Ansel, Bosie tea, Bien Cuit, Mille Feuille and maybe Payard.
I like Payard’s Pain Au Chocolat and almond from the LV store and might check it out. MF didn’t get much positive review on this board and the pictures online look OK for a baker that was working at PH. I am not interested in Kayser. Any other ones I missed?
I have been to Kee’s and LMDC and plan to visit this time also. How is Michel Cluizel? I like their bars.
We Have Grom and didn’t like L’arte. Any other ones that is not sugary?
Are General pretzel’s bombs any good?
Bakery for bread
I am looking for whole grain or dark European bread. Last time I tried Amy’s and it was fine.
Thank you for reading and I will appreciate any help.
