Help us plan 25th anniversary trip to NYC with friends

Heading up to NYC to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary with friends for 2 nights the end of May. We have tickets for Matilda for Sat matinee before our 6 pm train back home, and also got discount tickets for Vanya on Thurs eve. We are staying near Grand Central station at the Roosevelt Hotel. Our friends haven't been in NYC for decades, and definitely want to get to MOMA for their free entrance hours on Fri pm. They are game to take the subway with us.

Hubbie and I want to return to Katz's for his pastrami sandwich plus Economy candy, Tulu's or babycakes for gluten free treats for me, Bistango's (hubbie had good seafood pasta dish, and I loved having so many gluten free choices) & Kalustyan's (spice shop nearby).

Since it will be the end of May, could consider food truck for a meal (would make the guys very happy), but, need at least one nice meal. Am thinking lunch Thursday or Friday to take advantage of pre-fixe lunch specials at a nice restaurant. Was wondering whether we should return to Bouley's (we liked it better than Jean Georges) or try Le Grenouille or other for our special lunch. Bar at the Modern was delicious but noisy later in evening. Have enjoyed Cafe Mogador in the past.

Hubbie and I have enjoyed doing versions of the RGR self-guided foodie walk in Lower East Side and were wondering whether one exists, or could be developed in East Village (near Tu-Lu's) or Midtown East/Kip (near Kalustyan's)? We enjoy markets and our friends also thought going to Kalustyan's would be fun. Is Union Square Greenmarket good on Fridays? Or, better on Saturdays? Or, is there another market to aim for?

Can you help us make decisions about:

1) Pre-fixe lunch at a nice restaurant for (Thurs or Fri)

2) Brunch/lunch before Matilda on Saturday

3) Food truck suggestions

4) Self-guided foodie walk and other Itineary suggestions

Here is what we have so far:
