I just had another fabulous dinner at Pizzaiolo on Friday. This place is fast becoming a fave. Don't let some of the recent criticisms on this board discourage you from trying this gem.
We arrived at 6:30 and were seated immediately. The place was pretty packed by 7:15 so I can see why someone who arrived at 7:30 would have a long wait; but it's rare to find a good restaurant that you can walk into on 7:30 on a Friday night. Show up before 6:45 and you will be fine.
The service is good, not great, but nothing to complain about either. The service lacks the polish, the borderline telepathy, that you get at some places. There are minor communication problems but nothing serious. Our food came out at a nice tempo and we felt well taken care of. With a few months practice, I think the few service problems will be solved.
The food is excellent. Simple dishes, expertly prepared using exquisite ingredients; ideal for a food purist such as myself. Everything is wonderful. The Ceaser salad was perfect. The nectarine tart was among the best fruit based desserts I've ever had.The pizza is divine.
I linked a thread below, from right after Pizzaiolo opened. Hounds were raving about it, and rightfully so. Give Pizzaiolo a chance.
