I wanted to mention our dinner Saturday night at Pif, since it was so good. I had only been to Pif twice, right after they opened. The second time, I thought the prices had gone up too much and that the atmosphere did not justify them. Also, it was always hard to get a table at the last minute.
Saturday, I called and they did have a table available for that night. The owner told me they were having a slow night. I don't know if it was the holiday or all the reviews on Chowhound saying Django is better.
I had scallops in an anchovy sauce. Yummy! My boyfriend had venizon sausage, which he said was superb. We shared a cheese plate and a pot de creme, both very good. One of the nicest parts of the experience was our charming waiter. He really enhanced the evening.
Also wanted to mention that they've recently redecorated. The room is much cozier, with red walls, low lights and cute little silver snails on each table which hold votive candles.
Only possible semi-complaint is that they initially tried to seat us at a long table for six when the room was half empty. When I requested the two-top in the window, however, the host pleasantly complied.
