Little Pie Company goes "Magnolia"!

I went to the Little Pie Company in Hell's Kitchen to buy dessert for a friend's party Saturday night and was surprised to find that they've expanded their lines to add all sorts of baked goods, including great looking cakes, cupcakes, etc. to their blow-away pies. Of the stuff we picked up, the apple-pear crumb pie was -- as usual -- among the best pies I've ever had. The chocolate cake and german chocolate cake were very, very good, but does not top Magnolia Bakery's, which is of course like saying a mountain is not as tall as Mt. Everest. But the cakes were certainly far superior to Cupcake Cafe's beautiful but mediocre-tasting cakes (what is in C-C's frosting that's so lame????)

The cakes were also up to LPC's usual pricing: $25 for a large cake; $18 for a 4-5 inch diameter medium cake.

Little Pie Co. has also added seating. Haven't been to the Chelsea outlet recently.
