It's been a decade since I been to Maine. When I was 12, we stopped at this road side farmers market. They were selling candied/pickled beets, I can't remember wich. They were so sweet you thought you were eating candy. I was wondering does anyone have a recipe for these delicious morsels? Not sure if it's a regional recipe, or a family recipe, but I figured it couldn't hurt to ask.
I have tried every recipe I could find for pickled beets, and candied beets, but they just weren't as sweet as these. Little rediculous to drive to maine, pestering the farmers markets, just to buy beets with the current economy, boarding crazy.
