Hi All, I went shopping at Piazza Mercato in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn recently. It's on 3rd Avenue between 92nd and 93rd. It was pretty good. I got something they make on premises called "basket cheese". It's sort of like ricotta, somewhat sweet, with big lumps. Anyone know about it? How to use it? I don't know what to do with it.
They also had these great dried fig things up front by the register. They had one where figs were layered in a small cake like thing with walnuts and other stuff. Another version with figs on a skewer. They were yummy.
They have limited produce, nothing special. It's all about the deli counter: meats (fresh and dried), cheeses (great cheeses) and prepared foods. Kinda expensive. The staff is really helpful and knowledgeable. I'm trying to get to know about stuff in Brooklyn; trying to get beyond the limits of Park Slope, where I live.
