Pho Minh in Cupertino, good 1st impression

I didn't see that dezzersf had listed Pho Minh earlier in a thread of Cupertino recs. One of my co-workers had raved convincingly so I went last night.

I ordered Pho Tai Gau (round steak and brisket) which is my benchmark bowl -- great! Flavorful broth, noodles al dente, enough meat and onions. Garnish plate had lemon, bean sprouts, basil and cilantro, but not jalapeños.

In the menu cover photo, you can see a small dish of chile paste. I didn't think to ask if it is house-made (and the restaurant is next door to Marina Foods) ... it was so good that I ate it as if it were a side dish. Ouch and Yummy at once. I think of it as "endorphin power sauce."

Each table had a bottle of this paste, and Sriracha, hoisin, vinegar, and more. This is fancier than linoleum and formica surroundings. I found it attractive while very functional. The crowds flowed in and out because service was attentive and fast.

I will return soon and explore beyond pho to try hu tieu and more.

Please share your reviews and suggestions.
