Some people claimed to have stumbled upon Cozy in the Rocket, an eclectic cafe at the intersection of Armenian Street and Beach Street, by chance. Not us - we'd been looking out for it ever since the owners who used to run the now-defunct Amelie Cafe (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/806406) closed down their very popular cafe due to a rental hike, and also to expand their space.
We came by during breakfast-time this morning, so didn't have the chance to order their homemade fresh pastas (dang!), but we tried out their breakfast options:
- Bacon, eggs and toast: done perfectly, the bacon rashers were moist and slightly crisped, eggs were fried over easy.
- Mushrooms and feta cheese omelette: loved the aroma from the fresh mushrooms, and the saltiness from the feta cheese.
- Pork salami and tomato omelette: The salami added a meaty richness to the eggs, undercut by the tang of the tomato slices.
All breakfast plates were served with toasted bread and some of the crustiest baguettes in Penang, and good quality butter. The cappuccino and Masala chai were thick, rich and flavoursome. This, coupled with a quirkily-furnished cafe which oozed a languid atmosphere, I wanted to stay here forever.
