I hit the new Fairway for the 1st time over the weekend. Yes it was totally awesome. The fruits and veggies selections were abundant, fresh, colorful, juicy and sweet. It's everything I liked about Stew Leonard's and Whole Foods all rolled into one. The giant aisles were a revelation. Yes I will be going back!!

So here goes my rant. I saw they had a selection of specialty meats in the deli display: jamon iberico de bellota, jamon serrano, prosciutto di parma, prosciutto di san daniele.

1) The display price was for per 1/4 pound. Who are they trying to trick?

2) The fat on the prosciutto di parma had a thin dried outer layer. No it's that the crusty exterior layer that's always shaved off. It's as if the previous customer was from 3 days ago. They need to wrap it up better between customers and shave off any dried off fat.

3) The jamon serrano was almost completely dried out. It flakes off when peeling off the plastic sheets.

I understand these pricier meats don't have the same high turnover but I've never experienced these problems at Di Paolo, Despana, Whole Foods or Stew's. Has anyone else had similar experiences?
