[PDX] Reo's Ribs...

Nick | Aug 24, 2003 11:05 PM

Went out to Hillsboro, got to pick up some yummy carnitas by the pound at Ochoa, and on the way back hit a bbq place, Reo's Ribs. It's way on TV Hwy on the north side. You'll see the smokers out front.

I got a half rack of pork ribs (spareribs) for $11 to go. They also have chicken, beef ribs and brisket, and sandwiches for everything. Pretty tasty. Mine were fresh off the smoker. I had to wait about 15 minutes for them. Very hot -- too hot to snitch a bite on the way home. So 45 minutes later I got to taste them. Again, pretty tasty. Nice smokiness. BBQ sauce was on them (I prefer to dip them myself), but it didn't get too much in the way and was decent stuff. Some of the pieces, especially near the shoulder, were very tender and excellent, however, some were just okay on tenderness. They had a smoky flavor, but not hugely smoky. I'd say Yam Yam's are better (not being a regular customer of either), but these are still very good. Probably at least as good as Campbell's. Worth a try.

btw, apparently Snoop Dog loves Reo's when he comes to town. And you know when the Dog gets the munchies he's going to be Snoop-ing for the most flavorful bone.
