PDX: Please help with itinerary?

Big lurker, occasional poster here. The husband and I are heading out for our first trip to Portland next weekend, and I'm a bit daunted by the embarrassment of food riches offered by your fine city!

We're staying downtown at the Hotel Lucia, and won't have a car. We're arriving around 8pmish - will it be fairly easy to get from the airport to downtown at that hour? I've read that the frequency of public transport slows somewhat in the evening? Where's a good place for 1st dinner?

The husband eats everything (but is really supposed to avoid spicy), and I eat fish but no meat. We want to focus on places that are really representative of Portland. Overall, we like clean tastes with not a lot of heavy sauces. And sweets: Mio Gelato and Voodoo Donut sound awesome.

Need input especially on small plates/wine bars (Tabla, Noble Rot, Vigne, Navarre) and bakeries (Ken's, Pearl, which others would you recommend? And brunches. Also would welcome all comments on the following:

Bluehour
clarklewis
Wildwood
Park Kitchen
Paley's Place

Ease of transportation is a big plus.

Thanks you very much and if you're ever on the NY boards, I'm always happy to help! Sorry for this tome of a post.
