I posted a couple months ago asking if any fondue restaurants exist in Toronto, and there 2 responses. One was for Misto and the other for Jack's Radical...
So instead I planned a fondue night with a friend, and was going shopping for the cheese when i found PC Swiss Fondue. Just heat and serve. As my friend has never made cheese fondue either, we decided to get this instead of making it ourselves. The ingredients ( I think in this order) were Gruyere, Emmental, wine, potato starch, kirsh, and sodium phosphate. It was $5.69.
When we made it, it had a very "feety" smell to it...I know some cheeses do have this odour and was ok with it, but i was really disappointed with the taste.
In addition this is the first time I've ever had fondue, so I'm not really sure if this is how it should taste, or if it was far worse than making your own.
Has anyone tried this product? Did you like it? Opinions please :)
